We Help Get You Through NDIS Commission Renewal Process

If you wish to remain registered under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), you’ll need to renew your Certificate of Registration every three years before your registration period ends.

NDIS Renewal may commence six months prior to the expiry date and no later than three months prior.

The audits for this re-registration cycle are a thorough process made up of Stage 1 and Stage 2 audits. The Stage 1 audit is an off-site, desk-top audit that determines your readiness for certification and is followed by a Stage 2 audit, usually within three months.

Body corporates and large organisations requiring a certification type audit will undergo the Stage 2 audit on-site. In contrast, NDIS providers undertaking a verification type audit will usually have their Stage 2 audit conducted off-site.

Both Stage 1 and Stage 2 audits are performed by an NDIS approved quality auditor who will examine the evidence you provide against the relevant modules of the NDIS Practice Standards.

    NDIS REGISTRATION - FAQs

What are the NDIS registration requirements?

If you wish to apply for NDIS registration as a provider, there are several NDIS registration requirements and responsibilities you must meet to become registered, as well as maintain your NDIS registration.

    Provider Responsibilities

The responsibilities of registered NDIS providers are:

    • Complying with the conditions stated on your certificate of registration
    • Complying with the NDIS Practice Standard of your relevant registration group, including through a quality audit
    • Have a system to record, manage and resolve complaints, and support the NDIS participant and all relevant parties in making a complaint
    • Have a system for incident management, including notifying the NDIS Commission of any reportable incidents
    • Fulfil worker screening requirements and ensure that all your workers have been screened
    • Meet the behaviour supporter requirements, including reporting the use of restrictive practices to the NDIS Commission

Also, all workers, for registered NDIS providers, such as cleaners, need to complete an e-learning module called ‘Quality, Safety and You’.

There are also further conditions imposed on those who wish to apply for NDIS registration to deliver daily personal activities (Registration group 0107).

    Suitability Assessments

During your NDIS service provider registration, you and your key personnel will be assessed for suitability.

The NDIS Commission will be assessing whether you or your key personnel have:

    • Previously been a registered NDIS provider
    • Had a banning order in place
    • Any past convictions
    • Been insolvent under administration
    • Had adverse findings or enforcement action taken by any relevant authorities
    • Been the subject of findings or judgement in relation to fraud, misrepresentation, or dishonesty
    • Been disqualified from managing corporations.

    Quality Audits

When applying for your NDIS provider registration, you will also need to undergo an audit against the NDIS Practice Standard.

Based on the size and scope of your organisation, you will either undergo a ‘verification’ quality audit for lower risk/complexity support services or a ‘certification’ quality audit for higher risk or more complex support services.

What are NDIS provider registration groups?

When undergoing your NDIS provider registration, you will need to select the correct NDIS provider registration group. These groups have been implemented to ensure that people with disabilities achieve the best possible outcomes.

There are 36 registration groups in total, split into 24 lower risk groups, and 8 higher risk groups.

The quality audit that you will undergo when completing your NDIS registration will depend on whether you are applying for a lower or higher risk group. If your NDIS service provider registration is for a lower risk group, you will undergo a ‘verification’ quality audit. If you are applying for a higher risk group, you will undergo a ‘certification’ quality audit.
